Wishnek to chair Charlotte Regional Partnership’s board of directors

Jan. 12.  Judy Wishnek, Charlotte regional president for Park Sterling Bank, will chair the board of directors of the Charlotte Regional Partnership in 2016.  Wishnek is the second female board chair in the business recruitment organization’s 25-year history.

Since joining the Partnership board in 2011, Wishnek has served on nearly every committee from marketing and investor relations to the Film Commission and Catalyst Study.  Two years ago, she moved onto the executive committee.

Wishnek was in line to lead the Partnership in 2017, but accepted the chair position a year early after the departure of Linda Stanley, who recently transferred out of market for a promotion with Bank of America.

“This year marks the Partnership’s 25th anniversary, so it’s an exciting time to lead this organization,” said Wishnek. “According to the results of the recent Catalyst Study, confidence in the Partnership’s work is very high right now, so we look forward to capitalizing on that as we welcome back former investors and identify new ones.”

Wishnek came to Charlotte in 1998 and has been active in the community.  She currently serves on the boards of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and the Harris YMCA.  She is a member of Women Executives, the Urban Land Institute, and the Rotary Club of Charlotte.  The “Charlotte Business Journal” named her one of its Top Women in Business for 2015.

“Judy’s vision and long-time involvement with the Partnership make her a great leadership choice during this milestone year for our organization,” said Partnership CEO Ronnie Bryant.  “We will greatly benefit from her critical thinking skills and fresh ideas as we continue to attract new business to Charlotte and help grow the region’s economy.”
