March 28. Cinergy Entertainment Group has opened a luxury dine-in cinema in 47,000 square feet of space in north Charlotte—close enough to other cinemas to give them a run for their money.

The Dallas, Tex.-based theater chain taps into the fast-growing family indoor entertainment industry.

In addition to upscale cinema amenities, some Cinergy locations feature a unique selection of interactive games and a variety of other amenities, including bowling, axe throwing, laser tag, escape rooms, Virtual Reality and elevated ropes course with zip lines.

The new location in Prosperity Village at DeArmon and Johnston Oehler roads offers prepared food and adult beverages that can be brought to your heated and reclining seat. The chef-inspired menu includes classic American favorites plus craft beer and cocktails.

BENSON

Jeff Benson, the founder of Cinergy said the fast-growing Charlotte market was ideal for Cinergy’s expansion. The company, which is also opening two locations in South Carolina, purchased the 64,000 square foot shopping center where DeArmon and Johnston Oehler roads meet.

Benson said they plan to revitalize the center with a new, fresh mix of tenants.

Background

Prior to founding Cinergy, Benson, a CPA, started Movie Tavern in 2001, one of the largest chains of dine-in theatres in the country.

On Tuesdays, moviegoers can enjoy the discounted ticket price of $5, all day
