Sen. Vickie Sawyer recognized by NC Chamber

Nov. 14. The NC Chamber named NC Sen. Vickie Sawyer (R-Iredell, Mecklenburg) a “Jobs Champion” in its 2023 “How They Voted” report, which details state legislators’ voting records on bills that support North Carolina’s position in the global race for jobs.

Cornelius is represented by two state senators: Sawyer on the west side and Natasha Marcus, a Democrat, on the east.

The split was the result of redistricting finalized in the beginning of this year. Sawyer had represented parts of Iredell and Yadkin counties since January of 2019. Marcus had represented all of Cornelius in the old NC Senate District 41, as well as other portions of Northern Mecklenburg County. (Before Marcus former Mayor Jeff Tarte represented the newly created senatorial district.)

  1. Senator Sawyer is a true servant leader, an outstanding State Senator, and a great Chamber Member. As a small business owner herself, she understands the challenges facing our small business community while advocating for the needs of larger corporate businesses too. Thank you Senator Sawyer for your support of our business community and the citizens of Lake Norman.
