RCCC graduation May 13

May 12. Nearly 1,000 graduates will receive associate degrees, diplomas and certificates at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s graduation ceremony May 13. Steve Morris, chair of the Cabarrus County board of commissioners and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College board of trustees member, and Greg Edds, chair of the Rowan County board of commissioners, are the commencement speakers.

The graduates range in age from 15 to 69; the average age is 30. Sixty-nine percent are female. Forty-three percent of the graduates live in Rowan County, with 44 percent from Cabarrus County and 13 percent from surrounding counties.

One hundred ten High School Equivalency students will graduate. This year, 38 percent of Rowan-Cabarrus HSE graduates continued into a degree, diploma or certificate program at Rowan-Cabarrus, compared to 18 percent last year.

The ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center.
