Raptor Center has new executive director

Sept. 7. Erin Katzner begins her new job as the executive director of the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville tomorrow. She will keep an eagle eye on the direction and strategy of the CRC’s work to “ignite imaginations and inspire engagement” in the natural world through the exploration and rehabilitation of birds of prey.

She comes to the Carolina Raptor Center after eight years at The Peregrine Fund in Boise, Idaho, where she spearheaded the education, marketing, communications, and outreach programs.

Her career also includes stints at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Columbus, Ohio, the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, Pa., the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia in Morgantown, W. Va., and serving as president of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators.

Jim Warren, the long-time executive director of The Carolina Raptor Center, passed away April 29 due to cancer. He had been with Raptor Center for 16 years, 11 as executive director. Earlier this year he announced plans to retire in June.
