Peter Safir lands top volunteer honors at SCORE

Dec. 13. The National SCORE organization honored Peter Safir, with the North Carolina District 46 Outstanding Volunteer and Exceptional Mentor award.

In 2022 Safir provided mentoring services to over 77 SCORE Charlotte clients and spent over 300 mentoring hours with them. In addition, Safir served as a coach for more than eight prospective mentors which involved an extensive training program and one-on-one guidance to qualify for certification.

Safir, who was director of Mecklenburg County’s Health Department until semi-retirement in 2004, is also SCORE’s Charlotte vice president of education.

He was also full-time homeless director for Mecklenburg County for 15 years, fully retiring in 2021.
