Aug. 28. North Carolina is the fifth most birthing-friendly state, according to a new study published by the Birth Injury Lawyers Group.
The ranking is based on the number of hospitals in the state per 100,000 children aged 0-4. The group analyzed data provided by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
North Carolina boasts 56.6 hospitals per 100,000 children aged 0-4, surpassing the national average of 24.4 hospitals by 132%.
“Birthing-friendly hospitals in North Carolina play a crucial role in enhancing the experiences and outcomes of childbirth for mothers and newborns,” stated the report. “From prioritizing evidence-based practices to building supportive environments, these medical centers are essential for improving maternal and infant health.”
