Jan. 23. Milkbread, the new concept from famed restaurateurs Joe and Katy Kindred, has opened in Davidson, home of their first restaurant, Kindred, on Main Street. They also own Hello Sailor in Cornelius.

The Kindreds
Their new concept is an “all-day café focused on milk bread donuts, crispy chicken, vegetable-focused bowls, salads, and toasts,” according to Wagstaff Worldwide, a top national PR firm. Milkbread’s beverage menu includes coffee, espresso, and non-alcoholic drinks served all day, with a rotating selection of small production independent wine and beer in the evening.
The Kindreds have teamed up with another local business, Summit Coffee, for a private label house roast.

Menu highlights include a crispy chicken biscuit, Cobb salad with Green Goddess dressing and milkbread donuts.

A second milkbread is expected to open in Plaza Midwood in the iconic Dairy Queen building late this summer.
