Mecklenburg County jobless rate slightly higher in February

April 4. The Mecklenburg County unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in February, up slightly from the previous month (3.6 percent) and from one year ago (3.7 percent).

According to the NC Dept. of Commerce, Mecklenburg ranked No. 55 among 100 counties in terms of unemployment.

Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) increased in 50 of North Carolina’s counties in February, decreased in 14, and remained unchanged in 36.

Hyde County had the highest unemployment rate at 9.7 percent while Watauga County, home of Boone, had the lowest at 2.7 percent.
