Handel’s franchises offer catering and fundraising opportunities.

Oct. 25. An ice cream shop based in Ohio will open in Cornelius, joining other Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream franchises in North Carolina.

Handel’s will open in at The Shops at The Fresh Market and another in Steele Creek.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is made fresh daily at each store, as it has been since 1945. There are more than 100 flavors, although every flavor isn’t offered everyday. Vegan, sorbet and sherbets are also sold.

According to the company’s website, Handel’s is focusing its search for franchisees in priority growth markets that include Greensboro / High Point / Winston-Salem and Raleigh / Durham in North Carolina.

A Handel’s Ice Cream franchise involves the establishment and operation of a retail ice cream parlor, with approximate start-up costs of $263,500 to $865,000. Ongoing royalties are 6 percent of gross sales paid monthly as franchise fees, according to the Handel’s website.

Handel’s did not respond to queries, including when “coming soon” would be and who is the franchise owner.
