Gold’s Gym opens in 3 locations

Aug. 16. Gold’s Gym Harrisburg, Concord and Lake Norman re-opened for business at 5 am Monday.

The state  requires all patrons wear a face covering  inside the establishment, unless actively engaged in physical activity or the customer states that an exemption applies. No temperature checks will be done on customers or staff unless the person  appears sick.

Cardio machines that are in operation will be staggered to provide social distance. Locker rooms will be open. And 24-hour access will be available with keycard.

No studio classes, towel service, tanning, basketball, smoothies  or child career available during phase 1 of the opening.

Gyms were scheduled to be allowed to open in Phase 3. NC is currently in Phase 2.

A letter dated June 5 from the Attorney General Josh Stein cleared the way for gyms to reopen, helping them cater to people who absolutely need to exercise for medical reasons.

In the letter, the attorney general provided clarification on the current executive order saying the governor interprets the order to allow the use of indoor gyms and fitness facilities when prescribed or directed by a medical professional.

Gyms and fitness centers are awaiting clarity Monday from Gov. Roy Cooper on when he would overtly allow all gyms to reopen.
