Davidson Day has new head of school

Pete Moore is the new head of Davidson Day School effective July 1. He replaces interim head of school Wes Wehunt, who took over after Dr. Latta Baucom died in July of last year after a nearly three-year battle against liver cancer.

MOORE

Moore currently leads the Lower School at Lake Forest Country Day School in Lake Forest, Ill., an independent school located in the Chicago metropolitan area.

“We’re delighted to welcome Pete and his family to our Davidson Day community,” said Wehunt. “His robust background and depth of experience in education across the globe will serve our students, families, and faculty well.”

Wehunt will return to his role as head of middle school when Moore begins.

Moore has two decades of experience in education, with an emphasis on leading innovation and diversity initiatives, growing enrollment and fundraising. Previous positions include assistant head of school at the Chinese American International School in San Francisco, as well as director of technology at Sydney Grammar School in Sydney, Australia.

Moore has a Master of Education with a concentration on management and leadership from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Education with a concentration in special education from the University of New England, and a Bachelor of Teaching from the University of Wollongong.
