Concord to host urban design workshops March 21-24

March 16.  Members of the public are invited to participate in the next phase of the City of Concord’s Downtown Master Plan update process.  The Planning and Neighborhood Development Department will host a series of urban design workshops in City Hall March 21-24.  During the workshops, planners and participants will develop and test new ideas for the downtown area.

All interested individuals and groups are invited to spend as much or as little time as they would like to share ideas.  Public input is essential and will inform and guide the development of the updated Downtown Master Plan.  Opportunities will be provided each afternoon and evening for public participation in the development of alternative design concepts.

The series begins with an opening presentation at 6 p.m. March 21.  See here for full workshop schedule.

In consultation with Concord Downtown Development Corporation, the City of Concord and its consultant team are working to develop the Downtown Urban Design Plan.  The plan will be based upon a firm foundation of analysis and public input, and examine existing conditions, previous studies, market potential, and the recently completed parking study.  The plan will recommend conceptual streetscape improvements along with development recommendations for opportunity sites in order to establish a clear framework for investment in downtown.
