Carolinas Medical Center NE named Top Performer by The Joint Commission

featured_CMCNENov. 24 Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast is one of Carolinas HealthCare System care locations named a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission. The recognition is for their exemplary clinical performance in multiple specialities. The designation, released as part of the Commission’s 2014 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” recognizes hospitals for attaining excellence in using evidence-based processes shown to improve care.

Carolinas HealthCare System’s hospitals were among 1,224 recognized this year. They include: Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center-University, Carolinas Medical Center-Union, Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, Scotland Health Care System, Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Blue Ridge HealthCare, St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbus Regional Healthcare System, AnMed Health, The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, Women’s Hospital, Annie Penn Hospital and Cone Health Behavioral Health Hospital.

The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, stroke, venous thromboembolism and perinatal care, as well as for inpatient psychiatric services and immunizations. Hospitals can attain Top Performer status by achieving cumulative performance of 95% of above across all accountability measures; achieving 95% or above on every reported accountability measure where there are 30 denominator cases and having one or more core measure set that has a composite rate of 95% or above.
