Alexander Cahill is new affordable housing director in Davidson

May 28. Alexander Cahill is the new Affordable Housing & Equity Director for the Town of Davidson.

His most recent roles include working with the City & County of Durham, where he led the Growth Management & Strategic Support divisions. In this work, he oversaw the Training & Onboarding program, Planning for Affordability Program, Racial Equity & Inclusion Program, and Equitable Engagement—in addition to legislative development—and with the City of West Des Moines, Iowa, where he worked on equity and comprehensive planning efforts. Prior to joining local government, he worked in non-profit healthcare administration and served on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Accessibility Patient Care Team

Cahill is the past Vice Chair of the American Planning Association’s LGBTQ+ Planners Division, and past member of the American Planning Association’s National Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee. He is presently a member of the Government Alliance on Race & Equity.

He attended the University of Minnesota where he majored in Urban Studies & Political Economies.
