Kannapolis offers grants to Cannon Blvd. businesses

featured_kannapolislogoDec. 18 The City of Kannapolis is offering façade and site improvement grants to businesses and property owners on Cannon Boulevard between I-85 and First Street. City leaders said the area is a key gateway to those who travel to Kannapolis as well as those who live and work on Cannon Boulevard.

The façade and site improvement grant will aid the city and property owners as everyone works together to maximize the appearance of the boulevard as well as promote the services and products offered at the businesses along this busy corridor.

The grants will cover items such as landscaping, exterior painting, installation of awnings, canopies or shutters; windows, lighting, doors, fencing, sidewalks, parking lot improvements, signage, and roofs.

Grant applications are due Jan. 31. The city provides a matching grant for up to 50 percent of the total project cost.

The grants are part of a larger plan by the city for additional improvements which calls for landscaped medians, wayfinding and gateway signage, and addressing code enforcement issues.
