April 4. It turns out SVN Commercial Real Estate Advisors, a long-time Cornelius real estate brokerage, has been acquired by SVN/BlackStream, a full service commercial real estate firm headquartered in Greenville, SC. Business Today broke the news of the firm’s relocation to Charlotte in the March print edition.

SVN was formerly known as Sperry Van Ness until 2015 when the Boston-based commercial real estate franchisor announced it was rebranding along with a plan to grow internationally.

In a press release today, Tom McMahon, managing director of SVN in Cornelius, said the sale closed March 7.

SVN/BlackStream, which specializes in commercial real estate investment sales, landlord leasing and tenant representation, disposition and corporate services, opened in the Greenville market in 2014.

SVN/BlackStream operates franchises in Greenville, Columbia, Asheville and Charlotte, ranking seventh out of over 220 SVN offices. “We are very pleased to expand into the largest market in the Carolinas. Our customers have wanted us to be able to help them directly in Charlotte, and by adding an experienced and successful brokerage firm in the market, which has successfully helped SVN clients for nearly 20 years, we found the perfect opportunity,” said SVN/BlackStream CEO Ford Elliott.
