Feb. 16 Uwharrie Capital Corp, parent company for Bank of Stanly, Anson Bank and Trust and Cabarrus Bank and Trust, reported net income for the year ended Dec. 31, 2011 of $900,000, an increase of $187,000 compared to the prior year. Net income available to common shareholders was $255,000 or 3 cents per common share this year compared to $68,000 or 1 cent per common share for 2010. Net income available to common shareholders reflects the payment of dividends on preferred stock issued by the Company. At Dec. 31, 2011 the company had total assets of $527 million. |

In Mooresville
A house at 171 Easton Drive in The Point has sold for $880,000 after being listed by Doris Nash of Ivester Jackson Distinctive Properties at $929,900 two months ago. The 4,475 square foot house, whose purchase price included a boat slip and a swim/tennis membership in The Point Lake and Golf Club, has a tax value of $789,130. The selling agent was Rose Miller of Coldwell Banker United.
A house with a swimming pool, lake view and a deeded boat slip has sold for $1.04 million after being listed as a short sale at $1.15 million by Sheryl Francis of Keller Williams in Mooresville. The house, which was on the market for five months, has a tax value of $1.36 million according to Iredell records. It has 5,634 square feet of space as well as an outdoor kitchen. Doris Nash of Ivester Jackson represented the buyers.

A 4,000 square foot home in Christenbury Hall has sold for $550,000 after being listed by Shane Lowe with Weichert Craven & Co. for $575,000. The house, at 2468 Susie Brumley Pl. N.W., has a tax value of $788,170. There is a master on the main floor as well as three bedrooms on the second level, plus a bonus room, laundry, loft and media room. Karen Van Dyne of Allen Tate represented the buyers.
Cornelius, by the numbers
There were 294 listings in Cornelius priced at more than $450,000 during 2010, vs. 278 during 2011, according to Abigail Jennings, president of Lake Norman Realty. The 5.4 percent decrease in listings indicates that the executive market may be coming back into balance, albeit at lower prices. For the 12 months through mid-December 2011, there were 152 homes on the market in Cornelius priced above $450,000, vs. 168 in 2010, a 9.8 percent decrease. “Showings and interest in the higher end we saw a definite increase in 2011,” she says.
